Reasons people IGNORE your request

Reasons people IGNORE your request

By Rajesh Setty on Mon 12 Jan 2009, 9:00 AM – 10 Comments

Here are a few of them. Please modify the list by adding/deleting but remember to address the concerns in the “final list” before you make that request.

#10 They are NOT ignoring. Just busy to respond back that they will work on the request

#9 They are busy.

#8 You made an unreasonable request

#7 Your request was unclear

#6 Your request was too “costly” for them to handle

#5 It was unclear “what’s in it for them” to fulfill the request

#4 You have taken them for granted before. They want to set that straight.

#3 Your request was not THOUGHTFUL enough.

#2 You are NOT likeable

#1 You are easy to ignore. BECOME that someone that’s hard to ignore.

All the best!

Hi Rajesh,

I just saw your post through Chris Garrett on Twitter. I am a relativeley new “Twitterer” with 40 some followers. I have a few people following me that have MANY MORE followers. I would like to get the word out aboout my 10-year-old’s fund raiser to help children with cancer. (http://tinyurl.com/7at5lw) I was thinking of DM’ing these people and asking them to tweet about it. Is that a good idea or a bad one?

Thanks,

-Gabe

I really like the point #1 & I think that is true atleast 90% of the time…

Gabe,

My $.02

Although it is a great cause, DMing people for this is a stretch unless you have a STRONG relationship with all of these people whom you are DMing. You can tweet the cause and people who are interested to retweet will pickup and retweet.

Have a great morning.

Best,

Raj

Well the first is absolutely the most important point but I have a feeling this is very abstract term and the concrete implementation is easier said than done.

Can you please elaborate how to make yourself difficult to ignore

Rajesh Setty  on January 13th, 2009

Soubhagya:

Yes, you are correct. Neither there is a simple answer nor there is ONE answer to “how to make yourself difficult to ignore”

I may not be able to do justice in one comment to answer the question but if you would be kind enough to go through my series of posts on “Distinguish Yourself” you might find a few things that are of interest to you on this topic.

Hope that helps.

Best,

Raj

Ok Rajesh,

Please don’t mind then I am the one, actually who is finding the answer to the question which I have raised……

Well Then you are like any other writer or philosopher who saying I already know just not getting it right it this time ….

Rajesh Setty  on January 14th, 2009

I won’t mind it Soubhagya. You are welcome to reach your own conclusions.

Sorry to have disappointed you.

Best,

Raj
