Your New Year Resolutions Already Broken?
By Rajesh Setty on Sun 11 Jan 2009, 12:39 AM – 4 Comments
A few people told me (sadly) that they have already broken their new year resolutions. My response is usually the same
So, what?
There is a reason you made the resolution in the first place. The “reason” would not have gone away. What has happened is that a “reason” has come up that forced you to break the resolution.
The next step is fairly simple. Learn from the “reason” that contributed to breaking the resolution.
And,
Re-create the resolution.
There is no law that states that you should only create resolutions in the new year. You can create a resolution right now – as soon as you finish reading this blog post.
Why wait?

Very nice!!.
We should create the resolutions thinking we are going to live only this year. Every present moment is new one.

I do agree. Their is no specific time to do the things.. when u think and take it up ,thats the right time. So we must not wait for the moment, must create the moment.

Thanks Anand.
We as people are gripped by traditions. If everyone is thinking of “new year” resolutions, we think of them too.
This is the time to buck the trend and do what is right for us.
Best,
Raj

Great advice!
I’m a big fan of making resolutions, small or big, throughout the year, not just on January 1st.
So much so that myself and a few friends created http://www.pledgehammer.com on our free time. It provides an easy way to write resolutions down with a deadline and share them. It also has a charitable ‘flipside’ to it – if you can’t stick to your resolution Pledgehammer asks you to donate money to charity. So whether you stick to your resolution or not, either way the world will be a little bit better.
We’ve gotten off to a good start and the number of pledges increases every day. Would be great to get more people to try it our and give feedback.
