Physically close.. mentally far away…

The connected world and the gadgets create a new set of concerns.
Early morning, I saw two couples going for a walk.
In one case the husband was listening to something on his iPod and the wife was walking silently next to him.
In another case, wife was listening to something on iPod and the husband was talking to someone on his phone – with a bluetooth headset sticking to his ear.
I don’t know what to say but to observe that in the quest of connecting to everyone all the time, we may be moving far away from people that are closeby.
All the best!

On a lighter note, may be the gadget(s) are helping reduce the divorce rate by not letting couples talk.

We lived in one lonely world – work, gadgets, internet. All that things made for better connection are separating people that use them.
My older brother say – when you are alone you can be quiet, but never be that way with somebody. I prefer to walk with my wife and talk with her, cause this moments are so rare…

is the second day i read your blog. so far so good.
i agree with you, we are missing so many activities that in the past we used to do. now a days it is hard to have a conversation without a ringing cellphone in the middle of the talk.

At some point in the not distant future, we may not know how to interact with each other as human beings (without the layers of technology) and we will end up forgetting our humanness. It is a profound change and can’t fathom if it is a welcome change.

The whole objective of the marriage is a life insurance. You have someone for sure and take risks with others! Others are more interesting than your close ones – and hence we have all the gadgets?
